| The Key To Peak Performance
|What I’m going to share with you today is one of the simplest yet most effective keys to peak performance in exercise and in life!
I noticed many years how the clients who complained the most got the least results – big surprise there perhaps.
However, I also noticed that the ones who did the best were the ones who had programmed themselves to enjoy exercise. Note the word programmed!
One of my most successful clients - Dennis – would constantly say. “I love it!” if an exercise was really tough. Whenever he felt those burning muscles, whenever he was struggling to breathe he’d be declaring out loud, “I love it! I love it!”
If I asked how he was feeling during the workout – he’d smile back at me between gasping breaths, “I love it! I love it!”
He told me he realized that when he was uncomfortable – that was the time that he was improving and getting stronger.
I started practicing Dennis’s technique myself.
For the next few weeks at Kickboxing I forced myself to say, “I love it! I love it!” whenever I got to a particularly tough exercise.
When I felt like giving in or quitting instead of saying to myself “this sucks” or “I hate this”, I forced myself to say, “I love it! I love it!”
I actually found myself smiling as I said it, and guess what? I also felt a burst of strength and energy!
I tell you those 3 little words are magical in more ways than you ever imagined.
After a few weeks of conscious programming the ‘Dennis response’ becomes just about automatic. Suddenly your workouts take on a whole new character. They become more fun and more beneficial…
